Adding the perfect touch
There is nothing that shouts “I love you” more than things made with your own town hands. The time and effort that you have taken to show the ones you care will not go unnoticed with this project. By adding ruffles around your dishware, you are adding fun and even romance to your next get together. Using minimal supplies and just five minutes per setting, this DIY is sure to have your guests talking.
What you will need:
Crepe Paper
Cake Rounds (cardboard rounds)
Hot Glue/Gun
Scissors
Crepe Paper is thin, you can cut through multiple layers at a time. We are cutting approximately 2 inch sections.
Unravel your crepe and while using your thumbs and index fingers, gently stretch the crepe. Continue this every couple of inches.
Once you have stretched all of the sections of your crepe, your pile should look like this.
Take your cake round (round cardboard) and start hot gluing toward the outer rim.
Press your crepe onto the glue and hold for 1/2 a second. Fold back your crepe onto itself and continue to glue and pleat. Continue this all the way around the cardboard.
Once the entire outer rim is complete, simply continue your glue right inside the first ruffle. The Crepe will over lap (this is what you want). Proceed with the pleating method, and glue, all the way around to where you started.
Trim off the excess and using your index finger and thumb, separate the crepe to enhance the ruffle/textured look.
You can add as many layer as you would like to achieve your perfect look for enhancing your next dinner party or event. Whatever the reason, be sure to have fun and create something beautiful!
