Never ever did I dare to ever think that my Paper Flowers would ever be featured in Times Square. On top of that, with my favorite client/people, The Knot.
Have Flowers, Will Travel!
When The Knot reached out asking if I would do a Paper Flower backdrop for their Valentine’s event in Times Square, I thought it was a joke. Well, it wasn’t so I started hand cutting and painting my signature petals in my yard and spray painting them.
I stacked all of the petals into a suit case and then assembled when I arrived in New York City.
What’s in a Name?
I wanted to do something different and brand the flowers so that when people took photos with these flowers it wasn’t the first thin you saw but was definitely everywhere. You can see in the red flower, I used my cricut to cut the circle details around the center. If you look closer you can see I added The Knot logo on each individual circle. On the pink flower you can see that the center was played up with the colorful darker pink and that logo can be spotted again.
The flowers were assembled in a hotel room and then loaded into a Taxi (I wish I would have taken a photo). It was 22 degrees and this Florida girl had no warmth in her fingers. The metal privacy fence is amazing and was the perfect structure to hang the flowers from. Adding pipe cleaners were attached with hot glue and gorilla tape then twisted through the panels to stay put. Look how insanely pretty this backdrop is? The wind was crazy so tent walls where added but with was still stunning!
Sharing the LOVE
The LIVE flowers were placed on display for anyone and everyone to come and pick their own bouquet and enjoy. How amazing is that?! B Floral of New York was the amazing supplier of these gorgeous blooms
After each person handed their flower we trimmed them with Fiskars gardening sheers (my favorite), wrapped them in tissue and then in brown paper with a custom sticker to hold it together. What an amazing event and such a gift to be part of.
