Custom Wood Frames

DIY wood frames

Our hallway make over is underway! We are styling this space but wanted something truly unique. We teamed up with a a great partner to bring you some custom framed art that is one of a kind!

Blank Space

Hallway Decor

We had this larger blank wall area in our hallway and could not figure out how to fill the space. I didn’t want to just fill it with a random photo or painting. This hallway leads to our kid’s bedrooms, play room and the bathroom that the kids and guests share. We wanted to have something meaningful but could not find a family photo that wasn’t a Christmas card. I contacted my girl Kristy at Canvas HQ and came up with a plan!

Slat Wood Frames

I’ve seen many people making these minimal frames of wood on the top and then on the bottom and it’s such a great design. I knew that I wanted my prints to take up vertical space. The bottom just abruptly stopped with the wood being horizontal. I decided that it needed to look more like a pennant/banner and wood would be something different! Because the canvas prints from Canvas HQ were 18″ x 36″ in length, I thought adding the wood slats inside the triangle would be a great move.

How to decorate a blank wall

You can see the end result and we love it! We went with photos that we laugh at every time we would see them. The mix of comical prints in a traditional form is the perfect mix for our home. I have laid out all of the details and supplies in the video below to help you re create this look step by step!

We would love to see how you use these in your home, be sure to send us a photo and we would be happy to post it!
