Moroccan Tea Party

Stylized shoots are quite possibly my favorite thing to do. I can dream up anything I want and push the limits beyond what I would tend to do for events.  This Moroccan Tea Party was no exception.  It’s a time to imagine something completely different and explore ideas which most people/clients might not accept.  When Kristen Weaver Photography asked me to join forces with them for their Watermark workshop series, I had zero hesitation and said, “YES!” Erin, who was an intern with KWP, planned the entire shoot and told me that I had free reign over the table. When I design something, I Google and look at Pinterest, as much as possible, to try to ensure that someone else has not already created it. The Moroccan Tea Party was starting to take shape.

How it began

I have always wanted to do a tile runner down a table, but with tile being raised it would have created a problem for centerpieces/ glassware etc. I thought about a shadow box; the concept of having something behind glass/ plexi glass, but still being able to put something on top. Then I started thinking about one as a table top and then it hit me! Why not remove the sides and have the florals/table top decor under elevated plexi glass. I teamed up with Bluegrass Chic and she literally made the table come to life!

Making it all come together

I had a super simple table made; I wanted it almost industrial with NOTHING fancy since the table top was going to take center stage.  I painted the table a light dusty gray and put Moroccan-style- white tile down the middle. Bluegrass Chic added all of the moss, succulents and all things gorgeous!  I added small wooden posts with a stoppers on the tops so that the plexi glass would rest and stay in place. Erin then added all of her amazing details to the top. I LOVED dreaming big on this shoot and showing future clients that different can be amazing!

Add it to the list! This design and project goes to the top of my favorites!
