Industrial Styled Wedding Inspiration

Hanging ANYTHING at an event is all the rage and rightfully so!  The same holds true for this inspiration shoot for the interns over at Kristen Weaver Photography. The girls asked if I could make them a macramé hanging piece that Lee James (flower guru), would add greenery to.  Macrame is fantastic for hanging, but I wanted to add dimension to it by including white yarn, as well as some darker “latte” colored yarn.  With the “ok” from the girls, I set my plan in motion. The industrial styled wedding inspiration shoot was going to be a fun project.

Creating our hanging piece

Taking a quick trip to Michaels, I bought all the yarn I needed as well as headed over to the jewelry section and cleared out their macramé cords.  Do not tell my husband, but I then took our rake and with a chop saw, cut off the top, which basically left me with a 5’ solid round dowel.  Suspending the stick/ handle  at the height I thought would work for a ceremony backdrop.  I loosely tied the macramé to the stick/handle so that I could easily detach it if I decided to re-use it in the future.  I started with the heavier (cord) material and then added in dimension with the lighter and darker yarn. After a hand full of knots, I took a step back to make sure that everything seemed balanced. This piece ended up being approximately 7′ tall and 4′ 1/2″ wide. The greenery that was placed on top was so full and lush!  I just LOVED the contrast of the deep greens on the monochromatic ivory hanging piece.

Seeing it all come together

Noah’s Event Center, which was the venue for this shoot, actually has these insanely cool hanging clips every 3′-4′ in their ceiling. So anything you need to hang, you can! I just love that a venue had that kind of foresight to allow for so many decorating possibilities!  RW Events supplied all of the rentals which were just gorgeous! The wood mixed with the silver/ bronze and all those greens was absolutely scrumptious!  I can’t thank the girls at KWP enough for asking me to be included. I think the piece came out great and really added to their “Modern Ethereal Shoot.”
