When I think about my favorite projects (like brown paper packages tied up with string!!!) this is one of them! These paper flowers are GINORMOUS! When an Orlando wedding planner contacted me to create a paper flower cake backdrop, I was all in! I wanted something a little different from my selfie backdrops, though, meaning something big and fresh! The Cypress Grove Estate House, which was the venue for this backdrop, has pergolas which are PERFECT to suspend things from. I attached the flowers to four lattices that I purchased from Lowes . I used the biggest/ thickest zip ties EVER to hang them from the said pergolas. It worked out beautifully!
The beginning
I sketched out the idea and when I zoomed out from the image in my mind, the head table was in the middle flanked by the cake table–with this HUGE paper flower display—on the right and the dessert buffet on the left. It was going to be a bit “cattywampus” and just not to scale. The dessert buffet was coming from Two Sweets Bake Shop and so I joined forces to figure out a balancing act. I knew I didn’t want it to be exactly the same, so I took two additional lattices and made an “L” shape to suspend from the pergolas. I think you can agree that these paper flowers were different, but perfect for the space.
The bride and groom, along with the mother-of-the bride were amazed! I loved seeing their reactions, knowing that I created something very unique for their wedding day.
